Walgreens $5 Challenge

Hey all! This is my first time posting a Walgreens $5 Challenge, but I'm a seasoned veteran of the CVS $5 Challenge, so this won't be too hard. :-)

I started with $5 in Register Rewards from last week. I also found out the hard way that at my particular Walgreens store, I can only use one RR at a time. So I have to be clever and make sure that each transaction brings me the best scenario.

Here is what I bought yesterday:

1st Transaction:

Buy 1 Gillette Fusion Razor - $8.99
$4.00/1 Gillette Fusion Razor coupon

Total after coupons = $4.99

Use $5 RR from last week

Total OOP = $0

RRs earned = $4.00

2nd Transaction:

Buy 3 Hershey's brand candy (bags) - $3.49 each
$2.00/2 Hershey's bags coupon

Total after coupons = $8.47

Use $4 RR from 1st transaction

Total OOP = $4.47

RRs earned = $5.00

Grand total OOP = $4.47

Total value = $19.46 with $5.00 in Register Rewards remaining!

Kami,
Are you sure that you didn't have the right amount of products? I mean if you had one product and two rr's then it wouldn't take, you would need 2 products?
Or is your Walgreens plain stingy :-)!

I think my Walgreens is plain stingy! I had everything I needed because it even printed out the RRs that I was getting back for that purchase.

I have emailed them and am waiting on a response. We'll see what "corporate" says. :-)

I'm posting as anon. because I actually work for Walgreens, but do these challenges for myself every week. They should take one coupon per item. That's what ALL cashiers and managers are told in training. It's in our videos and training manual. As long as your total of manufacturer coupons and RR's is equal to or less than your total number of items, they should all go through without a problem. Walgreens ad coupons do not count toward a coupon total. I would certainly write corporate about your particular store, or perhaps just shop at a different one if you have another one close by.

Looking back, I had 3 bags of candy and one razor. Then one MQ for the candy, one MQ for the razor and two RRs to pay with. So that's one "coupon" per item.

I did email corporate and they basically reiterated what is on the back of the RR, so not much help. I might ask the manager to explain it to me next time I'm in the store.
